Tarzan Presents This Is Cinerama Thailand Edition. Neither of Jock Mahoney's Tarzan films took place in Africa, testimony to how creatively bankrupt the franchise had become.

Not one of the best Tarzan movies. Mr.Mahoney was plagued with an illness that gave him a weak and sickly appearance. It was a wonder that the audience believed that he could beat well built Mr Strode. Also missing was the Tarzan yell after defeating the bad guy.

The Metrocolor images make this Tarzan adventure slick looking and colourful, but the story can't quite be described as the same, although it's certainly different as he's in the Far East. Perhaps the most interesting scene for a modern audience is the bungee jump sequence... possibly the first ever seen on film!

Call it Tarzan Goes to Thailand. In his second outing as Tarzan, sinewy Jock Mahoney comes to Asia at the request of a monk to escort a sacred child to a faraway city. Naturally, Woody Strode has a son that could sit on the throne so he has plans to eliminate the so-called chosen one. There is a huge fire in the jungle that nearly kills the little boy as he prays to his god. Later, Tarzan and his chief nemesis Woody Strode battle it out with sabers while balancing on a rope net above vault of boiling oil. Well, it looked like oil. Guess who dies? Jock Mahoney makes a taciturn Tarzan who is quite agile whether he be strung up between two water buffalo and stretched or doing a bungee cord jump before most of us knew they existed off a bridge into a narrow river. The scenery is exotic. Woody Strode sounds dubbed in the style of a treacherous Italian movie villain. The Chosen one picks up a cute little elephant that he calls Hungry who steals the show. This is one darn cut little fellow. Woody Strode makes a worthwhile villain and Tarzan is virtuous as usual with Jock swinging on vines through the jungle. During the fire, a villain who had infiltrated the ranks of Tarzan and his followers dies a flaming death. Nevertheless, an above-average, old-fashioned Tarzan movie lensed in Thailand. Think of it as a glimpse at Asia before Vietnam erupted.

Understanding that Jock Mahoney was ill during most of the filming. The result was the skinniest Tarzan in film history. There is no way he could have defeated Woody Strode. That being said, this is one of the better Tarzan films.

Woody Strode returns to Tarzan, but his baddy roll can't help the film from being a giant snooze fest.
