Movie Info

The final film of beloved Italian movie star Marcello Mastroianni (to whom the piece is dedicated) this is one of Portuguese director Manoel De Oliveira's more accessible films. It is the story of Manoel (Mastroianni), an old director who looks back upon his life while he and a film crew travel the backroads of Portugal to help French actor Alonso (whose father emigrated from Portugal to France) to find his familial and cultural roots.
