Will Freeman hit the jackpot when he penned a hit song, the proceeds of which allow him to live the single life unhindered by the responsibility of having a job. Things start to change when a needy mother moves in next door and her 11-year-old son, Marcus, starts dropping by unannounced. Will resists forming a relationship with the kid until he learns that women find fatherhood attractive, then the two reach an agreement: Marcus will pretend to be Will's son in exchange for being able to hang out at Will's place.
