Abby Kowalski is a single police officer from Chicago who lands her dream job as a detective. But the promotion causes problems for her in her personal life, specifically in her close-knit family of cops. Abby, now part of the department's Internal Affairs division, finds herself at odds with her fellow officers, a group that includes her father and three brothers. Abby's task is to find a way to pursue her dream of being a detective while keeping her family intact. Veteran actors Treat Williams and Kathy Baker play Abby's parents in the crime drama.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Against the Wall benefits from a likable ensemble and offers some kind lessons drawn from a family dynamic within a professional setting, although the series may prove too full of platitudes for viewers who crave distinction in their police dramas.

Unfortunately, star Rachael Carpani's Abby Kowalski is the least interesting character in a not especially galvanizing show - no further investigation required. Go to Full Review

Despite the pilot's pandering localism and cliched proclamations, Against the Wall features some watchable performances and a premise that might yield interesting developments down the line. Go to Full Review

Breakout star Rachael Carpani and ambitious creators could vault this procedural above the pack. Go to Full Review

I can't fault Against the Wall for not being as ambitious as The Chicago Code, but I can fault it for not being ambitious enough to have a clear idea of what it wants to be. Go to Full Review

It might provide grown-up drama for women of an age more often served by sexist sitcoms. If not, Lifetime may be delivering just another old-fashioned family drama with nothing new to say. Go to Full Review

There's a warmth to the characters and their relationships that should satisfy Lifetime's core audience. Go to Full Review
