Famed deep-sea explorer Bob Ballard, perhaps best known for his discovery of the Titanic shipwreck in 1985, takes viewers to underwater worlds in search of answers to questions like: Where did life come from, and what made the continents? Ballard and his team travel the world to visit sites ranging from volcanoes submerged more than 3,000 feet beneath the Hawaiian islands, to shipwrecks on forgotten ancient Greek trade routes. Cameras catch previously unfilmed rock formations, lava vents and unusual species that call the ocean bottom home. To make sense of his findings, Ballard consults with leaders in modern science, among them Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin and TV personality Bill Nye.
