This is first and foremost a triumph of writing and performance, but credit should also be given to the commissioners and executives who must have had to push to get this kind of thing made at all. Go to Full Review

As an elegy to her real grandmother, Alma’s Not Normal is eloquent, radiantly beautiful and -- in the Nuttall vernacular -- totally fabulous. And as a furiously real yet incorrigibly hilarious sitcom, it’s pretty much perfect. Go to Full Review
Killian Faith-Kelly GQ Magazine [UK] 11/26/2024
With its protagonist’s insistent pursuit of glamour amid the glossless grit of her surroundings, it will draw massive investments of heart and soul from anyone who lends it their time. Go to Full Review

Martin L @RT28906410 12/15/2024 "Alma's not normal" is absolutely brilliant, a massive well done to Sophie Willan and the whole cast, the life story was amazing and so was the acting by the whole cast. A massive 5 stars from me. See more Dan B @RT54415027 10/30/2024 I've just finished series 2 and thought it was brilliant. Just the right amount of humour, pathos and social commentary. Anyone who has experienced even parts of the storyline will identify with the severe bleakness of needing help for relatives with mental health issues. This series is really thought provoking but also has some genuine laugh out loud humour. The poem written by the Lin character about 'not giving a hamster matches' sums it all up. Well worth a watch. See more Projet I @RT84586187 10/13/2024 Make your own mind up but if you love watching gifted northern British actors deliver a script which is both hilarious and heartbreaking then this is for you. I binge watched it and it has stayed with me as I’ve pondered the deeper themes of a broken care system and the spirit of hope and survival. An absolute gem of a watch. See more Jan V @RT50475020 10/13/2024 Throwing everything weird you can think about against a wall and see what sticks doesn't make good comedy. There is a lot here, way too much actually, and it makes this show feel like a big mess instead of a well written comedy.
