This midseason comedy, from the makers of "Late Night With Conan O'Brien," follows Andy Barker -- a certified public accountant who has succeeded in almost everything he's tried, except his new accounting business, which fails to take off. One day, Andy is mistaken by a beautiful stranger for the retired private detective who used to occupy his office; deciding to give fate a chance, he takes the case. Andy's supportive wife Jen isn't exactly sold on this new turn of events, until she sees the boost it's provided to Andy's self confidence. Joining the newly-minted P.I. during his investigations are the eccentric neighbors that inhabit his office building.

Troy Patterson The New Yorker 05/09/2020
If Jeff Lebowski were not a shaggy stoner of uncertain employment but rather a C.P.A. with a round head and square personality, he would be Barker, played by Andy Richter in this 2007 sitcom. Go to Full Review

At times, that doughy affability threatens to become a punchline, but [Andy] Richter draws it out just enough to be funny without being distracting. Go to Full Review

Andy Barker's no 30 Rock, but it's not as bad as the premise suggests it would be, and that's no small feat. Go to Full Review

Absent a laugh track and filmed in wide screen, Andy Barker fits the overall blueprint of latter day NBC comedies. But it's just not as smartly funny as The Office, My Name Is Earl, Scrubs or the series it's subbing for. Go to Full Review

The cases [Andy] Barker tackles during this six-episode trial run are well-mined for laughs. Go to Full Review

It's all insane and unrealistic, and it contributes to the zany fun. Go to Full Review
