Middle-school student Bella Dawson doesn't buy into the traditional roles of boys playing football and girls being cheerleaders. The head cheerleader dreams of playing football. She achieves that goal when she gets a chance to try out for her school's pigskin squad. She excels, not only making the team but becoming the star quarterback. She takes the job from Troy, who is bitter about losing the position. Her teammates do what they can to try to get her to give up, but she perseveres. While the star athlete shows her toughness on the field, Bella doesn't want to lose her two best friends from the cheer squad, overly enthusiastic Pepper and no-nonsense Sophie, who advises Bella on everything about boys.

BadNews R @TheMovieSearch Sep 17 Bella and the Bulldogs: Season Two was honestly a lot of fun to revisit—especially because I got to watch it all with my son. He absolutely loves the show, and that made the experience even more enjoyable. While the series still carries the same cheesy, corny comedy and overacting that Nickelodeon sitcoms are known for, by Season Two it almost feels natural. You get used to the exaggerated humor, and it becomes part of the charm rather than a distraction. The cast really shines here. Brec Bassinger (Bella) continues to carry the series with her energy and relatability, and her dynamic with Coy Stewart (Troy) feels genuine and heartfelt. Their chemistry gives the show its emotional anchor. Meanwhile, Jackie Radinsky (Sawyer) and Buddy Handleson (Newt) deliver some of the funniest moments, leaning into that goofy best-friend energy that always works in teen sitcoms. And then there’s Pepper (Haley Tju) and Sophie (Lilimar)—two characters who are absolutely incredible in what they bring to the screen. They embody the kind of supportive, loyal best friends that everyone wishes they had. Their comedic timing, sharp one-liners, and unshakable bond with Bella elevate so many scenes. Whether they’re hyping her up, keeping her grounded, or adding their own dose of sass, Pepper and Sophie prove to be just as essential as the football gang. They round out the show’s core cast in a way that feels warm, fun, and complete. I also appreciated the stronger presence of Zach (Matt Cornett) this season. He was woven into the storylines more naturally, and his addition to the group felt like a good step forward. That said, his absence in the final episode stood out—it didn’t make sense for him not to be there, especially after the writers had built him up throughout the season. Looking back, I wasn’t the biggest fan of Season One when it first aired. It felt too over-the-top for me at the time, and I struggled to connect with the humor. But now, after watching Season Two all the way through, I actually find myself enjoying it. Maybe it’s because I’ve grown used to the style, or maybe it’s because the characters have grown more into themselves—but either way, the show won me over. The season ends on a nice high note, wrapping up the middle school years with enough heart to leave you wishing for more. Honestly, I could see how a TV movie or a continuation into high school would have been a perfect next step. My son definitely wishes they had gone that route. Still, for what it is, Bella and the Bulldogs Season Two is a solid, fun watch. It’s lighthearted, family-friendly entertainment that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want. Final Verdict: It’s not groundbreaking television, but it’s enjoyable, uplifting, and a great series to share with kids. Pepper and Sophie make the friendships feel real, Bella and Troy carry the heart, and Sawyer and Newt keep the laughs coming. Altogether, it’s a winning team. See more Read all reviews
