Critic reviews for YumTime
This is a vital side of sexual consent that's rarely portrayed, as is healthy kink. Who'd have guessed it'd come from this show? Billions has nothing but itself to blame for making that so surprising.
Characters are needlessly vulgar, scenes that don't need to be sexualised are and it occupies a dreamworld in which the most important thing to the average Joe is white-collar financial crime.
This is a show that pushes buttons and presses the limits of pay-TV tawdriness, and its aggressive vulgarity is a large part of its appeal. But an episode like "YumTime" suggests a healthy degree of self-awareness about the culture of Wall Street.
This is Peak Giamatti, exactly the sort of scene you want to see him in week in and week out.
The key to understanding Billions, and why it's such an unpleasant show to watch, is June Raichlein.
