Bob's Burgers

Critics Consensus

A modestly immature workplace cartoon, not without potential, that needs to work on finding its rhythm.

Tv Season Info

This animated sitcom follows the escapades of third-generation hamburger restaurateur Bob Belcher (voice of H. Jon Benjamin), who always seems to be in a financial pickle, and his quirky family, which includes his perpetually perky missus, Linda (John Roberts), and three children. The youngest is Louise (Kristen Schaal), who sports a pink bunny-ears hat; middle child Gene (Eugene Mirman) likes to don the store's burger-and-bun mascot uniform; and eldest daughter, Tina (Dan Mintz), is a nervous and neurotic 13-year-old. First-season highlights include the premiere episode in which a health inspector arrives at the diner after Louise informs her classmates that her father's special ingredient in his meat patties is human flesh. In other standout outings, Linda and the kids stage a musical murder-mystery play at the restaurant, but an abrupt interruption impacts opening night; and Bob's hero, washed-up baseball player Torpedo Jones (Robert Ben Garant), joins the local minor-league team and befriends Bob.

[Jon] Benjamin's me-against-the-world delivery gives the show a beating heart, reminding us that the Simpsons aren't the only lovable misfits in 'toon town.

Here's a show that instantly will make you lose your appetite... The opener is riddled with juvenile humor consisting of jokes pegged to corpses, crotches and child molestation. It's almost enough to trigger a case of mad cow disease.

The beauty of "Bob's Burgers" lies in how its wackiness gives way to the warm fuzzies that are completely grounded in relationships and the human experience.

What Bob's Burgers doesn't quite have yet is a rhythm and flow of its own.

Bob's Burgers might be meatier if it gave us some reason to watch these characters. The title isn't the only thing that feels generic.

The deadpan deliveries of its principal characters can be very moderately amusing at times. But in the end, you probably won't want fries with this one.

It's far from a perfect pilot, and it's certainly one of the weakest episodes. But it's definitely laying the groundwork for what would become one of the funniest and most likable animated shows of all time.

It's a lower profile part of Fox animation domination, but it's one of the best.

Bob's Burgers may not be entirely family friendly nor is the premise entirely original but much like Fox's other animated series on Sunday night, this is a show that celebrates the humor and the messiness of the typical American family.

Bob's Burgers actually manages to capture the culture-skewing satirical tones that made The Simpsons so great in its early years, while also managing to honor the word "sitcom" by having an actual storyline and quirky, funny, fully-developed characters.

One of my favorite shows! Freshly hilarious and original- a great adult cartoon that doesn't follow the lead of Family Guy or The Simpsons.

Not particularly great in its first season but it did show that the show had potential.

I hadn't heard of this show until browsing and someone recommended it this morning. What a hilarious time. Grown up animated cartoon, bizarre children, frustrated father, genuinely funny, different types of story lines.

Bob's Burgers is stupid, and not in a funny way. Some of the jokes and lines feel extremely childish and feel like they should be in a kids cartoon not an adult one. The plot lines for each episode are you're basic suburban plot lines with not much new thrown into it and as. And mainly as I mentioned the show is extremely stupid and can feel very mind numming at times. But for all of its annoyances there is one thing that takes Bob's burgers from a below average show to a good show, the family. The family that the show focuses on are an extremely likable group of characters that are a lot of fun to watch. The family doesn't feel like its something completely different but it doesn't feel like a family you've seen a million times before either. There are some parts in episodes where the restaurant is at risk of being shut down and when this scenario happens in an episode you feel legitimately concerned for the family. The show definitely isn't for everyone due to its often times silly unfunny lines and humor and mostly generic plot lines but the characters will certainly keep you entertained.

i really enjoyed this show. i think its really witty with hilarious characters and really enjoyable plots. in the first few seasons it is still very funny but the plots arent as interesting than next few seasons. this show does have some crummy episodes but i think overall it is very good show

Sometimes all you need is a laid back humor, lighthearted animation, and plotless storyline to keep your life together. Reminds me of early Simpsons-vibe, a happy-go-lucky series that you can pick up on any situation.

I can't quite get it fresh, but it's not too bad. My favorite episodes are 2 and 8, and 9 is pretty good. The first half (7 episodes) wasn't very good, the second half (6 episodes) mainly improved because it had two good episodes. I'm gonna try to watch at least the first episode of Season 2 because if it's good enough, I'll finish the season, and then be able to get to the season that won the best animated Emmy.

One of the best immature-humor TV shows i've watched. It dosen't have a real rhythm or storyline. Each episode has it's own storyline. Each episode has something different and funny thing to see. I highly recommend this show for teenagers and those with 'poopy' humor.
