Critic Reviews for Broad City Season 2

All of these nods to class dynamics make the show better: denser, more meaningful, more interesting to rewatch and notice all the things you missed the first time, more self-aware.

More than the jokes and characters, where Broad City betrays its maturity and confidence is in its total commitment to Abbi and Ilana's own delightfully skewed and insular reality.

The brand of feminism practised by Broad City's protagonists is sometimes troubling if always heartfelt, and the humour of season 2 is increasingly unflinching.

Initial indications are good -- the second season of Broad City may even exceed the first.

Television so rarely allows for the kind of comedic experimentation we're seeing on Broad City.

The episode's leisurely place just left a lot less time for the killer jokes I've come to expect each week. It's hard to stay upset, though. After another hilarious season, Broad City has probably earned a victory lap.

It's nice to see that absolutely nothing has changed this time around, and the show is the same old lazy creature that we slowly fell in love with, and boy is it nice to have it back.

The first time I watched it, I thought, "That's it?" But upon the second watch, I realized that this episode accurately sums up what the show is all about: female friendship, quirky characters (Tree Man!), and slice-of-life storytelling.

The second season has the same feel as the first but with the stamp of approval now.

It would be appalling if it weren't so funny.

Seriously, how are less than a million people tuning in for these weed-infused shenanigans each week?

Sometimes it's good to inject some darkness into otherwise relatively cheery shows, and this episode proved that Broad City can combine lighter topics like anal sex and heavier topics like death into one half hour.

Best and funniest TV show I have ever seen. The characters and stories are absolutely awesome.
  • Jul 26, 2016
The show that makes Millennials fall in love with New York.
  • May 17, 2016
A much more consistent, and way funnier season. The finale isn't quite as good as last season. I like this season as much as Season 1, even though I didn't love the second half of that season, and liked this whole season.

Funniest uncomfortable no holds barred 20 something female humour you will ever see
  • Apr 19, 2015
Fun stuff, edgy, sex and drugs. Life in the big city from a chick's POV. Love it. Be sure to watch the original web shorts, that's their best work. the tv series spends too much time on recurring characters, like Abby's disgusting male "roommate." Except for Lincoln, he's cool.

Excelente 2da temporada, muy superior a la primera. Ojalá siga evolucionando así el programa

best new show in a long time in the funny departement. Could use a bit more of a philosophical edge, give them a slight enlightnment, make the world a better place type of energy.

    boom yes i love women

While the first season of Broad City was very strong, this second year finds the show in a position where it has more of its own voice. Ilana and Abbi's pot-fueled adventures through 20-something naiveté are fully observational, and the quirk factor doesn't verge on annoying at all here. It also makes great use of New York for comedic set-pieces, including a season finale that will definitely ring a chime or two if you've ever walked down St. Marks Place between 9 PM - Midnight. One of the funniest shows on television, and Comedy Central's most radical series in over a decade.
