I don't understand why anyone ever considered doing this show without Stana Katic, because I could tell that Beckett had his number by the way she held herself as she spoke to him in his car.

It didn't abandon Castle and Beckett to die holding hands on a kitchen floor, but left them happy, ever after. And though I know they are not real people, I am grateful for this canonical kindness.

The opening murder scene had just the right mix of mystery and shock value without having to be gory. That's an art few shows can pull off, and I appreciate how well they did it here.
