Catastrophe hits its crescendo in a cutting final season that finds both the humor and heartbreak of simply trying to get by as a lover and a parent.

The central joke of Catastrophe is that these choices don’t amount to one—which isn’t to say that real challenges don’t threaten the couple over the course of four bumpy but hilarious seasons. Go to Full Review

For a show that came on so strong, it's a curious but also brilliantly quiet way to go. Go to Full Review

Few other shows have honoured the fullness of romantic love in all its complications with the same level of radical honesty. Go to Full Review

It's often snobby and more than occasionally mean. It has a thin, subtle story, and lacks memorable set pieces. Go to Full Review

And yet their pain, manifested in family tragedy and fractious arguments about career and sex, brings us vicarious pleasure as Rob and Sharon wound, then cling to each other out of shared need and a desire to make the other happy. Go to Full Review

And as much as these two may look like they're in trouble, the heart of this show has always been the tenderness that's clearly brimming under the surface of the acerbic wit of their unfiltered relationship. Go to Full Review

Gareth v @geewah 06/24/2023 A strong final season. Follows the same formula as the 3 previous seasons and it still works. Good time to wind it up. See more Silver T 04/30/2023 Love!!! One of my all time favourites!! See more corkball 06/25/2022 It was a little hard to get in to this show. Season 1 kicked off with the premise that two people get married when she gets pregnant and then actually like each other. It is deliberately offensive, playing off of people's foibles, hang ups and bathroom habits. It isn't for everyone. Season 4 is more of the same... the show is remarkably consistent, although perhaps the behavior gets more outlandish here. The leads are not entirely likeable... they are judgmental, snarky, and occasionally mean. Although there is also a tenderness between them that is touching. I GUESS the idea is to be as realistic as possible? See more mccane m 07/12/2020 Catastrophe is equal parts laughter and tears. The finale deserved all the awards! Sharon Horgan is a genius so it's not surprising that she and Rob Delaney could create and deliver a masterpiece. See more greg m @GregFromCos 04/09/2020 Wish I'd stopped watching before the end of this series. Started off so strong. See more 04/13/2019 Catastrophe reaches a fine (not fantastic) conclusion, in a final season that has plenty of the series strength from past seasons, but lacks the oomph needed for more substantial merit. Sharon and Rob continue to have great chemistry, which still works, but they often bog down other character arcs in the show to irrelevance. Catastrophe also doesn't quite give enough insights into the troubles of parenthood, at least not until this season's second half, which could have really hit a stride for this final year. The ending does manage to be heartfelt, and sends off Carrie Fisher in a tactful manner. Can't compete with the also recently concluded You're the Worst, but Catastrophe's method of sticking to its guns still pulls it off (just not in flying colors or anything). See more Read all reviews
