TOMATOMETER

"Shogun" was a perfectly entertaining look at superheroes battling in Feudal Japan, with strong arcs for both Nate and ray, but there was a nagging sense that we've seen the show cover this ground before.

On the whole, 'Shogun' illustrates what Legends of Tomorrow is capable of when the show embraces its more zany elements and grounds them in the relationships between the characters as well as the team dynamic as a whole.

If only there'd been as much attention paid to the story itself...because in the end, this feels like a washed-down, thoroughly PG version of what a time-travel story in feudal Japan could have been.

"Shogun" introduced some major plot points, doled out a serious consequence for the Waverider gang, and was filled with laugh-out-loud moments throughout.

Granted, Shogun came across more like a terrible homage to Seven Samurai, but it did do some necessary course correction to get Season 2 back on track.
