Dinosaurs live like humans in this 1990s sitcom set in 60,000,003 B.C. in Pangaea. Blue-collar dinosaur Earl Sinclair tries to cope with short-tempered boss Bradley P. Richfield of the Wesayso Corporation so he can put food on the table for his large family: sweet-natured and long-suffering wife Fran, rebellious teenage son Robbie, shop-til-she-drops daughter Charlene and precocious Baby, not to mention his crusty mother-in-law, Ethyl. On his rare night out, Earl pals around with his buddy Roy Hess. The show touched on a number of topical issues, including environmentalists, endangered species, LGBT rights, censorship and corporate crime.

Dinosaurs' premise is exciting enough... But the execution is terrible. Go to Full Review

It's those goofy prehistoric hassles -- with decidedly modern echoes -- that make "Dinosaurs" so much fun. Go to Full Review

Dinosaurs, an endearingly bizarre little half-hour that is never quite as funny as it should be, but funny and different enough to invite tuning in again. Go to Full Review

Yes, the dinosaurs are terrific looking... But with a setup like this (and with ABC's claim that "Dinosaurs" is aimed at an adult audience), you keep expecting punchy laughs and barbed social satire a la "Simpsons." Instead [It] lays a big dino egg. Go to Full Review

The fact that "Dinosaurs" is awfully derivative doesn't make it a bad show... But it does take something away from ABC's claim that the sitcom is ground-breaking. Go to Full Review

Dinosaurs may be applauded as something different in this creatively dismal season. But beyond the nifty trappings, it really isn't so new. Go to Full Review

TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Jan 15 Dinosaurs is a wildly creative sitcom that still stands out for its originality. On the surface, it looks like a family comedy with characters in bulky dinosaur costumes, but underneath is a sharp satire packed with social commentary. Earl and Fran Sinclair are memorable leads, grounding the show in familiar sitcom dynamics while the prehistoric setting keeps it fresh. The Baby, despite never having a proper name, steals the series with dark humor and the iconic "Not the mama," making him the show’s breakout star. The siblings and Grandma Ethyl add exaggerated but intentional humor, with Grandma delivering some of the sharpest lines. Season one does a great job establishing the world, blending family comedy with critiques of work culture and society. However, watching it today reveals dated editing, pacing, and sound design that may struggle to hold modern kids’ attention. Even so, Dinosaurs remains a bold, funny, and ahead-of-its-time series that’s still worth revisiting. See more 02/15/2020 Dinosaurs was a show that absolutely should be seen by everyone. The puppets may look really outdated at this point, but for 1991, it's really well-made. The biggest surprise of the show, however, is not in the puppets or Baby Saur's cute antics, but in how the social commentary and satire manages to remain fresh until the 21st Century and onwards. Themes that were hard  to be talked about, especially in a show that had somewhat of a kids appeal, were brilliantly tackled here, such as teenagehood's difficulties, environmental risks, feminism, religions and worker's conditions. Plus, it manages to satire the whole concept of the 'Family Sitcom' with maestry. Still fresh, Dinosaurs is a must for the ones who like reflection and a good dose of fun.
