"Doctor Who" is a classic science-fiction series with a cult following. The Doctor is called a "Time Lord," a time-traveling scientist from a far-off planet who travels through time and space in a shop known by the acronym TARDIS. A TARDIS is a machine that is larger on the inside than the outside and is supposed to change its appearance based on its surroundings. The Doctor is also able to evolve his biology, so he appears as many different people throughout the series. The Doctor loves Earth, so he makes many trips here to save the planet, or to enlist earthlings to help him with tasks in the galaxy.

Michael Wisher is a stunning presence of chilling menace. And the philosophical dialogue between him and the Doctor is like a dance. Go to Full Review

Baker, though, plays his Doctor as a genial force of chaos, whipsawing between cold arrogance and ingratiating charm, leaning toward both vanity and pomposity yet taking great pleasure in playing the clown. Go to Full Review

Lacking the courage to answer the questions it raises, Genesis shows how challenging, and how infuriating, children's TV can be. Go to Full Review

It may not be the most exciting way to wrap up Baker's first year as the Doctor, but by now he was absolutely in command of the role and the audience. Go to Full Review

Whatever your tastes, every season since 1963 ended with a momentous story or a satisfying sign-off. This Revenge of the Cybermen signally fails to do. Go to Full Review

What makes the season so memorable and endlessly watchable is not necessarily the individual stories, but the interplay between Baker and his two companions. Go to Full Review

Wolfgang B @RT24521803 07/02/2023 Were it not for the opening story feeling a little out of place (written and produced by the outgoing team rather than the incoming), and the closing Cyberman story not landing, this would be the show's greatest season. If the Cybermen weren't the closer but instead Terror of the Zugons (the first of the following series, and Harry's farewell, which would have made it an ideal closer) it would be basically as perfect as this show was capable of being See more 04/15/2022 Not an overly strong start to Tom Baker, but there's certainly still plenty of fun to be had, particularly with Ian Marter as the bumbling 'Harry Sullivan' in tow. See more 04/25/2019 A Classic Doctor Who Season Season 12 is a true classic and a game change for the show with the introduction of the most iconic doctor "The 4th Doctor" (Tom Baker) and a great tardis crew with "Sarah Jane Smith" (Elisabeth Sladen). Also this season stories have some of the best stories like "Genesis Of The Daleks", "The Ark In Space", and "The Sontaran Experiment" with stories like "Robot" and "Revenge of The Cybermen" being at least a entertaining time.
