A family builds a medieval castle deep in the woods of South Carolina to prepare for a national disaster. The series focuses on former Army infantry training officer Brent Sr. and his five adult children's efforts to complete the castle that began in 1999 -- in time for a doomsday scenario, which Brent Sr. believes will come in the form of an electromagnetic pulse that will fry the world's power grids. The castle, according to Brent Sr., could function without electricity and is a perfect place to defend against marauders. Living and working on the homestead together, however, produces infighting and personality clashes between the controlling, strict Brent Sr. and his kids, which make the thought of Armageddon pale in comparison.
