This hourlong drama is set inside the nation's ultimate fortress: the Pentagon. It's a hub of highly explosive conflicts between American military heroes and the civilians to whom they report -- a world where crises can escalate into life-and-death climaxes, for individuals or entire nations. Critical decisions by intelligence officers in the war room -- and the execution of these decisions by covert special ops on the battlefield -- happen every day. The No. 1 mission is survival of the state, an often delicate balance between protecting the homeland and protecting either all of mankind or the life of a lone soldier.

Critics Consensus

E-Ring is another absurd macho production from Jerry Bruckheimer.

Deserves to be a hit, but going up against "Lost" has all the makings of a suicide mission. Go to Full Review

As the mission's race against time ticks down, "E-Ring" thinks it's got you by the throat, and that's true, because you feel like you're being led around on a leash. Go to Full Review

On a more basic level, "E-Ring" proves rather static. Go to Full Review

No matter how much care went into the show to make it as authentic as possible and infuse it with excitement, you never get the feeling that what you're experiencing is real. Go to Full Review

Among the most surprising new shows of the year is NBC's "E-Ring." Surprisingly bad, that is. Go to Full Review

E-Ring is a more credible drama thanks to the sure-handed direction of Taylor Hackford and the highly focused performance of [Benjamin] Bratt as U.S. Army Maj. Jim "J.T." Tisnewski. Go to Full Review

Sean H @RT66215251 Oct 23 This is one of the best television shows I’ve ever watched, every episode has spectacular writing, and the pacing is so frantic you feel like you’ve gone on a journey in just 42 minutes.. this show is truly an anomaly, it could be wildly successful if they released it today. Jerry Bruckheimer killed it with this television show. See more Michael P @RT24493500 02/17/2023 Was a great show, never understood why it failed See more Read all reviews
