Policeman Carl Winslow has enough to deal with on the job. But when he gets home, he still has to handle kids, his wife, Harriette (whose character was first introduced on the sitcom "Perfect Strangers"), his mom, a sister-in-law and Urkel, the nerd next door who doesn't understand that he doesn't actually live with the Winslows.

Good prevails, evil is admonished and even federal worrywart Sen. Paul Simon would be proud that such family entertainment exists in Hollywood. Go to Full Review

TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Jan 5 Family Matters Season 5 remains fun, creative, and engaging, carrying much of the charm from the earlier seasons while showing a noticeable shift in focus. Although there are a few rough spots and some odd episode choices, the season still delivers strong character moments and enjoyable storytelling. Steve Urkel is now clearly the centerpiece of the show. What once felt like a family sitcom centered on the Winslows has fully transitioned into being driven by Steve’s presence, especially with the growing emphasis on Stefan. While this works in many episodes, it does occasionally feel unbalanced, with other characters taking a backseat. Still, the season succeeds in character development. Laura and Steve’s evolving friendship remains a highlight, even when it feels slightly forced. Overall, Season 5 is entertaining and memorable, even as it reshapes the identity of the series.
