This three-part series about Francis Scott Key centers on his life after he wrote "The Star-Spangled Banner" in 1814. Filmmaker Philip J. Marshall interviews 13 historical characters about events in Key's lifetime, including the attitudes and behaviors of Americans on slavery that ultimately lead to the Civil War. Re-creations of some historical events add further depth to the film, which begins just after Maj. Gen. Andrew Jackson's Battle of New Orleans and ends with Key's losing fight with abolitionists.
