05/12/2021 It was so terrible I started wondering if it was a spoof!! Bad acting and worse writing, very disappointed because this was an awesome concept destroyed by the abysmal screenplay and acting. Don't waste your time See more 01/24/2019 The first season is just great! I found this series on HBO go and immediately fell in love with it! The best is the atmosphere and narrative, it's a halfbreed between Twin Peaks, Stranger Things, American Gods kind of art / weirdness. Awesome direction by Joko Anwar, who cowritten also the script. The story is about vampires-kind-of species based on Asian mythology. The history is uncovered piece by piece in each episode, so you will get full picture with the eclipse of the story. It's not about martial arts, these are there, but not as much you might expect. All characters are very charismatic and likable, maybe except for Halfbreed (in my opinion). The director Joko Anwar received a lot of awards for his movies, as I have understood. This is his first series. Please also be aware, that the Season 2 is very poor, comparing to Season 1 I would say extremely poor. The difference there is the director, Ekachai Uekrongtham for Season 2. The characters, dialogs, camera, story, even those animated story background flashbacks are all mediocre or worse. See more Read all reviews
