Comic/writer James Davis ventures back to where he was born and raised, adjacent to the projects of South Central Los Angeles, to explore contemporary urban topics and share his comedic thoughts on the world he grew up in and the world he grew up next to. What defines the "hood," and why is it only glamorized or villainized by the media? Using a combination of stand-up bits and unscripted field segments, Davis -- who says he was often the only black kid in his circle of white friends while growing up -- investigates the space between cultures and levels of privilege.

To live in America is to be hood adjacent. Davis is merely putting a fine point on it. Go to Full Review

08/09/2017 Comedy central is desperate for ratings. I give James credit, he's funny at times, but every time I have seen the show, like many of the new shows on the network, it's mostly just trying to play on white privilege and how its so damn hard for black people.. Among other false realities created by idiots. The only privilege in this country is for the wealthy. As a white male, I have never had any hand outs that's for damn sure, its annoying to be constantly told you are given shit in life when you have to work your ass off, and when ya arrive home all ya wanna do is chill, smoke, watch the zombie box and laugh... But then you have this shit. Thank God they have South Park. See more 07/30/2017 Only watched one episode. It was good comedy up until the 3rd skit that's when it all went straight to about skin color. Just another show that could only exist on comedy central. See more 07/27/2017 Really funny, and has broad appeal! See more 07/19/2017 This show deserves to go the way of The Haunted Hathaways, except with oen season and not 2. See more 07/06/2017 Cringy and unfunny. Best part of this show is the theme song and commercials. Concept isn't even tight; you'd think the show would be a comedy about black guys who "act white"; as a Donald Glover fan I figured I would find similar comedy. Nope, just a lame attempt at a show filled with stereotypes and old jokes about being black See more Read all reviews
