The reign of House Targaryen begins with this prequel to popular HBO series "Game of Thrones;" based on George R.R. Martin's "Fire & Blood," "House of the Dragon" is set nearly 200 years before the events of "Game of Thrones," telling the story of the Targaryen civil war with King Viserys I Targaryen's children battling for control of the Iron Throne.

While season two of “House of the Dragon” starts strong, it eventually becomes clear that this series is at war with itself. Go to Full Review

The new allegiances in the finale satisfyingly blur the lines between the factions, but until war truly begins—and Rhaenyra embraces every aspect of leadership, including the unsavory ones—it’s still all table-setting, no meat. Go to Full Review

We know already that there is no happy ending, but it has increasingly seemed that the characters themselves agree. Go to Full Review

Ultimately, season 2 feels incredibly underwhelming, especially in its last few episodes. With a season finale that does not quite deliver, much of House of the Dragon felt like a promo for its next season. Go to Full Review

It's still a transitional installment, reinforcing what we saw before and promising us, now, a hopeful future. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Sadly this sophomore outing ends up being far more languid & uneventful, resulting in a rather curious season where very little happens to advance the plot, leaving the promises & potential of its previous season unfulfilled. Go to Full Review

Salma A @RT08531056 Jun 2 HBO has produced some of the most talked-about shows in television history, but let's be honest about something that is often ignored — many of these shows are packed with graphic sex scenes that go far beyond what the story actually needs. When every episode includes long, explicit scenes, you stop focusing on the real story, and the writing, the characters, and the deeper meaning all get buried. There is also a clear pattern with HBO: they push this kind of content in front of the viewer not because the story demands it, but as a way to grab attention and drive subscriptions. That is a business decision, not a creative one. A truly great show does not need shock to make an impact — emotion, tension, and strong characters are what stay with people. So if a show cannot tell its story without covering it in explicit scenes, maybe the story was not strong enough to begin with. Your time and attention are worth more than that. See more Johannes S @RT64416087 Jun 1 In Season 2 the visuals and the dragons are continously gorgeous, but it underwhelms compared to Season 1. The first few episodes start off with a bang and I was expecting it to gradually follow up. However, after episode 4 it fell apart. Too much bloated dialogue, useless filler scenes, irrational motive changes, too many new characters. The stage for Season 3 is still set and nothing is lost. See more Aidan G @GrayFox8918 May 19 This season felt like a slog. The dialogue is not as impressive as Game of Thrones in the early seasons and the action was few and far between - so this leaves a bit of a noticeable hole. It feels as though there is constant build up but with zero pay offs. Here’s to hoping season 3 delivers. See more Cem Okan Y @cmyldz23 May 6 This whole season was spend on setup and Daemon's non-effective inner reflection. It was definitely a boring season. Although Game of Thrones had similar seasons, my concern is that this series does not give me hopes for the next seasons. In my opinion, revolving the entire story around these Godlike dragons makes it less enjoyable for us human beings looking for a human touch in the story. See more Thomas B @Daboosa Mar 31 Although the story isn’t as high intensity as the first season you can see its weaving in what it must, ready for a ramp up in what’s to come. Hopefully the next season fulfils in what has been laid before it. If it does it will be a tremendous achievement from all that are involved. See more Will C @Zbad1 Mar 24 I enjoyed Season 1, but Season 2 turned into boring woke trash. It became painful, it felt more like teen fantasy than Game of Thrones. DEI ruined the story.
