Hello. T @RT63803522 Aug 24, 2026 Story wise, it's pretty good. They did a nice job translating the stories into an anime adaptation. The dubbing is also fairly good. However, it's not very scary. The style of Junji Ito is exceptionally difficult to translate into an anime with colour because Ito makes great use of the page turn which is an element that doesn't exist in an animated medium. Also, an element of Ito's bibliography that doesn't translate well is the use of contrast which is a strength of hand-drawn, black & white styles. It would also be exceptionally difficult to match the level of detail that Ito uses in his manga due to the fact that animators would have to keep up the hyperdetailed style across multiple frames which simply isnt practical when making an animated series. The 3d models can also sometimes look very out of place, especially when juxtaposed onto 2d-animated backgrounds/foregrounds. Overall; the show tells some great stories but didnt scare me at all. If you wanna get scared, read the manga. I had pretty high hopes for this show as I quite enjoyed some of Junji Ito's mangas but this show was honestly disappointing. Things were difficult to follow and the endings of each episode were to0 abrupt to really scare me and these stories are honestly just one of those things that don't need a film adaptation.
