Executive producer Phoebe Waller-Bridge subverts every male-centered trope of espionage thrillers as Eve and the assassin play a deadly cat-and-mouse game fueled by their mutual fascination with each other.

With style and verve, Phoebe Waller-Bridge has adapted Luke Jennings' Codename Villanelle novellas about the co-dependent joust between a spook and an assassin.

Fiona Shaw is excellent as the gimlet-eyed head of MI6's Russia division.

[Jodie Comer] plays Villanelle, a gorgeous, magnetic, sociopathic serial killer, all gleeful brutality and spite, in Killing Eve, 2018's best TV show... It's a piercing jolt of a performance that hits you like a hairpin to the eyeball.

Killing Eve is completely delightful, and I think now that Waller-Bridge really might, after all, be the best thing to happen to women and TV since Sarah Jane Smith snuck aboard the Tardis in 1973.

The story hurtles along at a fast pace, shedding characters along the way. You'll think, oh man, they can't do that. And then they do. And the show just gets better.

The British-made drama is intriguingly strange, brilliantly cast, darkly humorous, and rivetingly suspenseful.

By the time Killing Eve found what passed for a heart, way late in the day, mine had virtually stopped beating.

Audience Reviews for Killing Eve: Season 1

It was an OK season, but a little slow at times. Saved because of the actress who plays Oxana.

Great story of two very strong women. Fantastic pictures and music. Likable characters. I love Jodie Comer and Villanelle :)

At first the show was actually pretty good, but after counting all thie silly ways the protagonist should have died or been killed, I got bored. It's like if children were doing CIA ops, what could go wrong.... In Russia, while chasing an assassin?!?

Of course it is good! Phoebe was deeply involved, so it was meant to be good. Common sense.
  • Jun 12, 2019
shows remarkable high-quality throughout its eight episodes.

Killing Eve introduces us to Eve Polastri, a detective working for a company called MI6, the show follows Eve trying to find an assassin named Villanelle. Villanelle is more enjoyable than Eve, because she isn't stupid and she doesn't make the pacing have terrible issues.

An absolutely blast from start to end.

I'm in love with Killing Eve.

/*SPOILER ALERT*/ Interesting and intriguing. I enjoyed it all through the season except for episode 3, where it begins with the death of the creepy-looking "Chinese spy" with a special hobby. As a mandarin speaker myself, I have to say that the few lines that actor spoke in Chinese in the show were completely horrible. That was nowhere near close to the actual language, and totally incomprehensible (not until I saw the subtitles and then realized he was actually speaking "mandarin"). It was so bad and sloppy and offensive at the same time (a "Chinese spy" who can't even speak Chinese right?!). It seems to me that the producers did not even care how ridiculous it sounds since they weren't expecting anyone to be able to understand it? I was really shocked and disappointed at how little care/respect they gave for this scene, as long as this guy looks like an Asian, speaks some crap-sounding incomprehensible syllables that they told the audience are "mandarin", so that he could be defined as a "bad Chinese spy". This cheap and sloppy setup might work decades ago if this show was only for a small set of English-speaking-only audience who has never seen the outside world before and enjoys the stereotypes of an imaginary"Chinese villain" from the western world point of view. But now with a broader audience across the world including many mandarin speakers such as me who liked this show originally, this part of the show really grossed me out. One important aspect of a good show is the careful attention to details. Do a good and honest job on every second of your show just to respect your own work, and also respect your audience. Unfortunately this show has not qualified for this standard yet. It is still enjoyable, but huge distasteful flaw here.

This is the most exciting series that I've watched. Well made and perfect casting! Jodie Comer IS Villanelle!
