King and Conqueror is ambitious and earthy, then, but it doesn’t make an entirely convincing case for dramatising a period that is so infrequently dramatised. Go to Full Review

The show never surmounts its massive spoiler problem – we all know how the tale finishes, and there aren’t enough surprises along the way to make the journey worthwhile. Go to Full Review

The treacheries, the violence, the intrigues, and the dialogue are all more George RR Martin than William of Poitiers. In its commitment to ahistorical detail, King & Conqueror becomes a frustrating watch. Go to Full Review
Johnny Loftus Decider Dec 8
Strong work from a cast including James Norton, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Clémence Poésy, and Eddie Marsan strengthens the backbone of King & Conqueror, which can otherwise feel like a pretty typical TV take on the sweep of history. Go to Full Review
Barbara Ellen Observer (UK) Oct 9
Ultimately, what undoes King & Conqueror is not that we know what’s going to happen -- history is full of spoilers -- but that it fails to make the viewer sufficiently care. Go to Full Review
Alison Rowat The Herald (Scotland) Aug 29
In true streamer style, there are cliffhangers, pretty good ones, to end each episode and keep the punters coming back. There’s also violence of the don’t watch while eating dinner kind. Go to Full Review

S D @staceleann36 2d I really like the storyline and the filming. But the casting ruined it. Most of the cast were perfect for the parts, but who in the world decided to cast black people to replace white Anglo-saxons?? The earl of Mercia is a north african black man? Really? It completely ruins the show and jolted me out of the story and time period. It doesn't fit at all. I love history...but I won't be finishing this show. I hate race-switching. Hollywood should make a movie about a Zulu king of Africa and his warriors rather than steal the history of England and screw it all up. A very poor writing and casting choice. See more Julia B @Froider Feb 27 The cast is great and the actors’ play is very good but the scenario and realisation lacks sense. It is not deep enough, the storytelling is very light and some timelines are difficult to trust. The first episode was great but I lost interest after the second one. Wouldn’t recommend to watch it and it’s a pitty, could be a really great show. See more Travis J Feb 9 Show is absolutely great no clue why its not rated higher? I guess there could be more battle scenes its more about telling the story of everything. If you like period pieces you will like this check it out See more morten n Dec 26 Poorly made movie with decent actors , backround looks like childrens drawings.. also SUPER stupid with all the black actors used..... See more JT J @Thatthing Nov 13 You don't do a movie like this and SKIP all the battles, but the last one and that was.. fast underwhelming and poorly executed! What was that!? This thing simply skipped all of the other battles and strategies in favor of glossing them over to oh the battle happened it finished and now we are here, which was vary jarring and confusing, I am not sure why they did that. This was a huge waste of time production and it was a frustrating show to watch.
