H2W W @RT47097404 10/11/2022 Probably this year's only small screen continental drama where every character is devoted to a 𝘵𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘤𝘦 performance without inhibitions, Ferzan Özpetek and Gianni Romoli adapted the original film 'The Ignorant Fairies' (Strand Releasing 2001) up close the subject of life as personal as matters of heart. Sexually fluid MSM, non-conformist couple, loyal trans of family and friends, struggling stand of identity, inferiority complex lover, partnership inclusiveness and, why not, if it takes two stranger survivors of a deceased partner to know and touch each other to discover what they miss about? Oh boy, is this a Turkish Italian thing or simply Özpetek doing to rise above the revolution of love in popular culture?? Must we believe everybody in our life is either a gift or a test?!! 🤣 Soundtrack composer Pasquale Catalano had it all figured out with 'Sodade' (Sony Music Entertainment France 1992) by Cesária Évora and 'It Can't Be Wrong' (Warner Chappell Music 1942) from Bette Davis. On a personal note, I can relate to such close kins of the characters and a chosen small family of their own even in a vast ancient civilisation like Rome, a special bonding similar to the local folks of my birth place in suburbia Johor. And who knows, as the next generation goes, they may not want to conform the usual choice of their feelings for one another or the existing living comfort zone; they might as well stay instead of leaving hometown to build a family. It is impossible to ignore this bold and brave outing of romance drama and celebration of friendships. Stream it now on the original distribution network Disney+ via Hulu before the R&C Produzioni series is expanded to another greathearted season.
