We see them at their highest and lowest, through scenes filled with sadness and struggle and others that find the beauty in small gestures of love and faith, we're presented above all with people striving to live exactly that sort of life. Go to Full Review

Part of Long Story Short's genius lies in its generosity toward often ungenerous characters. Go to Full Review

While it can be cartoony, and frequently laugh-out-loud funny, Long Story Short is also poignant and serious and sad. Go to Full Review

Norwcw H @Norwich Mar 1 I watched this because it was recommended by Rotten Tomatoes but I did not really like it or find it funny at all See more Drew M. @Stonehands211 Feb 18 A strong first season. I really like learning the ins and outs and the little things in families of religions I’m not a part of so I feel like I know my friends of that religion a little bit more. The animation is simple but very lovely. It was kind of a grower for me with how it is show to us throughout the years in patches each episode, but I was won over with it by the end. Very smart story telling device actually. See more mark d @RT09414769 Jan 12 Wow, that was tiresome. I forced myself through 2 episodes but I didn't humor-smirk once, let alone chuckle. Could not care less about the characters/caricatures within. 100% on rotten tomatoes -wtaf? See more Mary T @MaryTheProducer Jan 12 Long Story Short is such an incredible and special show with unique art and animation. The dialogue was hilarious and naturally built into the chaos of the Schwooper family. All of that in tandem with the timeline of events being set non-chronologically to give weight or context to the character’s trauma and how it influenced them overtime was so impressively done. There was quite a large focus on the Jewish faith since it is a Jewish family, but it didn’t detract from the show for me as I found the plotlines involving it to be very interesting. My only issue is the show needs more episodes. There was so many great characters and relationships that had to be set up this season that it felt like there is still a lot more potential to be explored. See more Raul D @Mrchimpface Jan 5 Ever spent a weekend with a family and wish you hadn't? It's pretty much like that. See more Max G @maxgitt Jan 4 I created an account just to review this show. Especially for American Jews, this show hits the nail on the head with what it's like growing up in the US. On the surface it's about an overbearing mother and a dysfunctional family that constantly argues and screams. But on a deeper level, it's about a mother who wants the best for her children and the ripples it creates through her children, who identify with various levels of Jewishness, who they choose to marry, and how they raise their own children. You see how the mother treats one non-Jewish daughter-in-law with contempt, while she treats another converted Jewish daughter-in-law with love and affection. You see the way each child struggles with their own identities and what the "right" way to raise a family is about. The members of the family are so witty and poignant, it was laughter and tears the whole 10 episodes through. See more Read all reviews
