And every scene with the night sky is beautiful with the soundtrack backing that shi up makes for a really special experience. However, I regret that the show is inconsistent in its quality. Characters tend to fluctuate between one-sided and multidimensional. The series clearly had an interesting idea for a story, but it did not meet its' execution. Here, the true protagonist is the story itself, while the characters play more of a supporting role. The plot jumps forward through a series of mini-arcs, often changing the main characters, though some do recur. And that can be an issue—it is for me—because the quality isn’t consistent. You might really enjoy one storyline, but find another painfully slow. It’s good to see storytelling approaches that break the mold, but I’m far from sharing the widespread praise this anime has received online. To me, it’s decent, and I give it a six thanks to its stronger moments… but the weaker ones are hard to get through.
