Caleb N @Calraptor2617 Feb 20 Even though it was released 15 years ago, this is still one of my favorite dino documentaries! The small segments of fossil evidence through animated cutaways and images are effective and interesting, and done in a great way that actually added to the dinosaur narrative rather than taking away from it. People say the visuals are bad: 1. They are very detailed and accurate dinosaurs for 2011, 2. There is a lot of work in the CGI backgrounds as well, and 3. The close-up shots of the dinosaurs’ faces used throughout the series brings a great level of immersion. Adding to that, the music and moments of silence make this one of the most suspense-ridden docu-series I have ever seen - it’s excellent and keeps you on edge. John Hurt is a unique narrator, but he nails every scene of dread, awe and detailed information. And some scenes are so shockingly abrupt and violent you think - "Dang, this IS how dinosaurs lived." Definitely a documentary that deserves more attention. :) See more Read all reviews
