ArtystaPisarz 02/02/2023 Let's be honest: this show had no right to be as good as it is. I read the first book in the series when I was a teenager and I reread it just recently, finding it very satisfying. The TV show I checked out from pure curiosity and I don't regret that one bit. Sure, it sacrifices at some places faithfulness to the source material in sake of its 20-minute-an-episode format. Sure, it refrains from showing to kinds so of the more dark-ish elements of Jacques' storytelling. Sure, it invents some unnecessary additions to the original plot (I have no idea whether they are inspired by other book in the series). But still, this low-budget (as I expect) show for kids musters great character design and decent voice-acting and delivers something as comfy to watch as it can ever be. And this is its greatest achievement – it manages to translate to a large degree to our screens what makes its source material so magically warm. But even so, I would gladly watch another version. Did I heard that Netflix was trying to conceive one, or is it just my imagination?
