Mike F @RT74261056 Aug 1 I have only recently gone through all episodes of this excellent series. One of the few occasions where I celebrate paying the BBC TV licence fee. I have seen a few criticisms of this production, and can sympathise with questions of how some of the experts were selected, but none were unduly bad and the majority totally outstanding. I particularly enjoyed Christian Goeschel. I was born 4 years after WW2, so I remember England, particularly London, being in a very weak state, bomb sites rationing and the like. Whilst I was aware of the war, it wasn't much talked about. I think people wanted to get on with life. Of course I knew the gist of things from the older people around me, but this programme really brought all the half memories, and more, to life in an enthralling way. I had to ration my watching throughout July 2025. I think all involved in the production deserve top marks for making a truly dreadful subject informative and entertaining at the same time. Finally the accompanying music was superb and for me added to the whole experience. See more Read all reviews
