Jeremy Wade is not a fisherman; he's an "extreme angler" in search of the biggest and most dangerous freshwater fish, the kind with a taste for human flesh. This action-adventure series also features Wade illustrating how these river monsters are constructed to kill.

02/06/2021 RIVER MONSTERS has been one of my favorite docu-series since its first airing in 2009. I'll probably not review the entire series but my feeling for its entirety hasn't changed. It's a man v. nature narrative with good cinematography, good close-ups and good overtones of investigative science. I don't fish much now but did when I was a kid. Before this series, I would try watching fishing shows but they were always woefully drab funhouse mirror shows, where I was sitting watching a couple guys who were sitting, watching bobbers sit on a lake. Then this show came along and changed the perception of fishing tv. See more Read all reviews
