Critic Reviews for Rookie Blue Season 1

All Critics (18) | Top Critics (10)

There's absolutely no texture in the world of Rookie Blue, no effort to make it seem like anything more than a routine hour of TV.

It's summer, expectations are low, and you could do a lot worse than this genial, softhearted import.

The writing is amusing and the uniformly strong acting makes all but the corniest moments of cheesy dialogue work.

Others looking for a milder option to edgier cop shows might find this police drama an entertaining alternative.

Every element of the production from the eye-rolling dialogue to the cleanliest crack house in the history of drugs rings false.

I can't come up with a not-so-clever nickname for "Grey's Anatomy in a Canadian Police Precinct," so I'm just calling Rookie Blue "Training, Eh" and that'll be fine.

It's a great problem, as I'm sure we all remember, those turbulent years of youth when we were all fumbling about trying to master both our hotness and our holsters. But such are the challenges presented... in the new Canadian drama Rookie Blue.

Summer television, you've done it this time.

Oct 22, 2018 | Full Review…

Rookie Blue is as generic as can be, which makes the generic Canadian streets feel even more generic than they probably should. Everything about this show feels like an off-brand medication.

Oct 22, 2018 | Full Review…

The over acting that occurred during the beginning scenes with McNally and Nash detracted from the show because it wasn't necessary at all.
