It never changed its basic formula of having Billy and his elderly mentor drive up and down the California coast, trying to be a positive influence on young people. Go to Full Review

Completely silly by today's standards, Shazam! was pretty cool if you were a little kid in the mid-'70s. Go to Full Review

The show feels like a joke and the lazy, bright costumes only solidify this point. Go to Full Review

For some reason, animation studio Filmation went live-action with this cheesy series based on DC's Captain Marvel. Go to Full Review

You start to smile in spite of yourself, and those of a certain age may find themselves reminiscing on the wide-eyed innocence of their youth. Go to Full Review

Mike P @RT77437476 06/08/2023 Cheesy but fun 70s super-hero classic will bring back a flood of memories for most of Generation X who watched this show while plopped down on their shag carpeting every Saturday morning for several years! This and Isis were just classics; it's so much fun to see this resurrected on YouTube! With stars like Mike Lookinland of Brady Bunch fame! I'd also like to point out that Richard Donner's 1978 masterpiece Superman, though it is a classic, borrows a bunch of things from this series in the development of it's script and series. Most notably the concept that Kal-El could communicate with his dead father Jor-El, in Spiritual Form, via the crystals in his fortress of Solitude. This wasn't really a thing in the original Superman comics. What it was doing was copying the scenes in the 70s Shazam tv series when Billy would talk to his council of cosmic elders; Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Aristotle and Mercury. This group of spirits guided Billy on the tv show; and would have conversations with them where they would talk to him in some netherworld-heavenly plane; and get feedback and guidance from them. THAT is what Richard Donner, Mario Puzo and Tom Mankuewicz were referencing when they write the scenes with Kal-El consulting with his cosmic father! Not the original DC comics, which did NOT present Jor-El as a cosmic spiritual presence in Kal-el's life!! See more Read all reviews
