The meandering script fails to generate any heat.

With all its improbabilities, the show works anyway, partly because it displays a redeeming wit about its own melodrama.

Jun 26, 2019 | Full Review…

There's humor here, but most of it is moribund... Much of the writing is simply too cute.

Jun 26, 2019 | Full Review…

When a premiere prompts so many intriguing questions, while providing solid acting and writing, you might be on to a winner.

Jun 26, 2019 | Full Review…

Sisters is full of sharp lines and sharper possibilities for the future.

Jun 26, 2019 | Rating: B | Full Review…

Some bright performances and the occasional sharply realized moment help keep Sisters fairly entertaining, if not very fulfilling.

Jun 26, 2019 | Full Review…

Obviously, as studies of sisterhood go, this ain't Chekhov -- or even Woody Allen. What Sisters does offer is an irresistibly tangy stew, laced with caustic commentary and, when least expected, poignantly affecting moments.

Jun 26, 2019 | Full Review…

Has all the ingredients to become a welcome addition to episodic televison. The cast is talented and appealing, the writing clever and evocative.

Jun 26, 2019 | Full Review…

The dialogue is often clever, but it just as often rings false... But relatively speaking, Sisters is decent television.

Jun 26, 2019 | Rating: 3/5 | Full Review…

Sisters has the look and feel of something cooked up by an advertising agency.

Jun 26, 2019 | Full Review…

When it doesn't work, it can be seat-squirming time. But when it does, it can be a remarkable moment, poignant and sad, funny and touching, all at the same time.

Jun 26, 2019 | Rating: 3/4 | Full Review…

The acting is quite good, particularly by Kalember, a series vagabond who has yet to find a part worthy of her subtle talents, and Kurtz. The writing, however, moves dissonantly between obsessions with the salacious and the sentimental.

Great potential set-up in the pilot, but never really took off. I liked it, wanted to love it, but just couldn't turn the corner.

I sure hope there is a second season. They really mine the comedic and dramatic opportunity of a extended family plot can provide. Realistic but never predictable.
