A young chef from the fine dining world comes home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop after a heartbreaking death in his family. A world away from what he's used to, Carmy must balance the soul-crushing realities of small business ownership, his strong-willed and recalcitrant kitchen staff and his strained familial relationships, all while grappling with the impact of his brother's suicide. As Carmy fights to transform both the shop and himself, he works alongside a rough-around-the-edges kitchen crew that ultimately reveals itself as his chosen family.

Audience Says

It’s hard to bid farewell to Carmy, Syd, Richie and the rest of the crew who made The Bear a Michelin-star caliber series, but this acclaimed drama goes out with a bang -- having served five show-stopping seasons to savor for years to come.

The Bear has made household names of White, Edebiri and Moss-Bachrach — who all give strong performances again in this outing — and fans will no doubt enjoy the ride up to the final episode... Go to Full Review

An excellent instalment that cements the series as one of the great shows of the 2020s. Go to Full Review

Overall, I enjoyed this season a lot, with the slow first episodes and the WTF architecture kind of caveats. Go to Full Review

... this fifth season does more than just bid farewell with a flourish. It symbolically attempts to pull us out of it. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Lelu W @RT48340493 9h Brilliant! In my top 5 of best shows ever written. I love the diversity displayed by actual “real” characters with flaws who are not just in service to other actors. Thank you so much for this gift. See more Hallie S @Hallie804 22h Liked the season alright. Still miffed that a show mostly following Carmen became about Sydney all of a sudden in the last season. Also doesn't help that the last two seasons were Avengers level with their casts. See more M M @RT13675121 1d I just don't understand the draw. The show isn't terrible, the acting is great though I constantly want to tell the cousin to stop yelling all the time. It's just not for me I guess. See more Tim O @RT56534900 2d As was the case with 'Hacks', this year (also wound down a moderate run), the trailing season of what started as an amazing show, wound down into a mess. s02E07 'Caramel' was really the only episode this season that compared to the level of Season 1 & 2. The rest of the episodes - spanning a single day, 'The Pitt' style, - had no character development. And with the limited runtimes, no real story development as well. On balance, much less interesting. Not to mention, appeared a clear decision was made to backburner Carmy, in favor of the ladies - without the character growth that shifts to other char-based episodes did in S02. And his final, 'career shift'? [eyeroll], unbelievably lame... [facepalm]. Not a happy exit for what was a fabulous show. Wife and I finished season one and two, on initial release, and then immediately watched each again. I doubt S03,S04, and certaily S05, will see a lot of daylight in years to come. See more Marilyn H @RT67890421 3d The Bear stuck the landing so hard. What a season full of incredible pay offs. Music was amazing as well. See more Kevin C @KBCrowley1980 4d The entire season was a pressure cooker about the service for the Michelin star man. It had the quintessential high-stress that has set this show apart from anything else. Having all but the final episode move at 90 mph relentlessly was a disservice to the show though. The characters and relationships all felt lacking this final season. The chance to slow down and work on the relationships of Marcus and Syd or Ritchie and Carmy, for example, was left out in order to make the longest high-stakes service the series has offered. It mostly works still but it all felt unnecessary. This is largely supported by the fact that the star man wasn't even at this service but he had been there months before and that it seems that Carmy is likely not leaving because he realizes he has finally found what he's been missing throughout his whole career. It would have been more interesting to shorten the season even more as the service felt overcooked. See more Read all reviews
