The world of high fashion turns dark when international supermodels begin dying in gruesome and mysterious ways. FBI Agents Cooper Madsen and Jordan Bennett are sent to Paris to uncover the truth. As they delve deeper into the case, they uncover a sexually transmitted virus that transforms ordinary people into visions of physical perfection, but with terrifying consequences. Their path leads them directly into the crosshairs of "The Corporation", a shadowy tech billionaire who has secretly engineered a miracle drug dubbed “The Beauty,” who will do anything to protect his trillion-dollar empire --including unleashing his lethal enforcer, “The Assassin”. As the epidemic spreads, Jeremy, a desperate outsider, is caught in the chaos, searching for purpose as the agents race across Paris, Venice, Rome and New York to stop a threat that could alter the future of humanity.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Caking on visceral splatter over an engaging takedown of modern beauty standards, Ryan Murphy's gonzo sci-fi horror is a disgustingly good time, even if its cultural commentary only goes skin deep.

The whole show looks so good – ironically, very conventionally cinematically beautiful – that it feels pointless to linger or ponder... This is face-lift TV, taut and tight and very smooth, even if you never really believe it’s real. Go to Full Review
Graeme Blundell The Australian Feb 3
Murphy again revels in the juxtaposition of the beautiful and the ugly and violent, and the series is shot with his distinguishing sense of aesthetic fascination. Go to Full Review

It might get tripped up by its own aspirations at time, but it’s one of Murphy’s better series. Go to Full Review

...could have very well been just another season of American Horror Story, and the only reason it perhaps isn't would be because American Horror Story tends to lean toward the supernatural and magical. This show is more science-fiction... Go to Full Review

It’s deranged enough to be more tolerable than those Murphy shows that tiptoe into what its creators consider “relevance.” Go to Full Review

Slava C @Slvslv 3d A good start then fell into some senseless poor written cheesy stuff. Character motivation falls apart and becomes extremely stupid. Locations make no sense. See more Bella B @BellaSnoopy Mar 22 As a fan of Murphy i’d say was so disappointed!!!!!! Even the plot was so interesting but the main character and the dialogues were so bad and not fun to watch!!!!! Everything seems so shallow AF i can’t believe it!! See more David H @wolfstar Mar 22 Ehn it’s ok, I suppose. Glossy and slick, wealth porn. No real new ideas here that haven’t been done better elsewhere. Ryan Murphy has some good word, but this one is just silly, scattered nonsense. See more Josh C @xjknightx Mar 15 Really good for the first 5 or so episodes and then kind of just went off the rails. Episodes 7-11 felt more like filler. Crappy ep 11 finale. Evan Peters is the man! He literally elevates this show while he's in it. See more Fabjola R @RT15932621 Mar 14 I hope there will be a s2! The first ep where a little boring but the last ep where so amazing!!🤩 See more Wynne B. @wynnebo Mar 14 I read the comic book series and I loved it so I was super excited when this was announced. Yes it’s campy. Yes it’s over the top. Yes it’s somewhat predictable. Most Ryan Murphy stuff is. With that said, I enjoyed the season and found it had some pretty pointed critiques about where we are as a society in how we view human beauty. Several scenes were extremely well done and poignant. Is this going to win a bunch of Emmys? Probably not. But it was an enjoyable escape with a valid point of view of beauty. See more Read all reviews
