Comic Michelle Wolf got her start in the industry on late-night television, writing and contributing to "Late Night With Seth Meyers" and "The Daily Show With Trevor Noah." This Netflix original that puts her in the spotlight, despite having a late-night vibe to it, can be watched anytime on the streaming service. The topical weekly series blends sketches with live comedy and in-studio guests as Wolf takes jabs at all kinds of people in the news, from celebrities to politicians. As Netflix explains, the show has the title that it does because it takes "a break from the seriousness of today's late-night comedy."

That segment serves as a reminder that Michelle Wolf is a dangerous comic. She says she "broke" the correspondents' dinner. Maybe she'll end up breaking TV, too. Go to Full Review

The sketch positions journalism as pure spectacle, just as the "sincere and angry" segment positions late-night comedy as a righteous fact-finding mission. The Break was the rare comedy to point up this contradiction rather than shrink away from it. Go to Full Review

Wolf's girlish voice also makes you expecther humor to be on the softer side. But she gets in her audience's face. Go to Full Review

She avoids the didacticism of other late night shows, while also delivering salient commentary on cultural zeitgeist. Go to Full Review

10/26/2020 The jokes aren't funny, and Wolf's delivery of the material is annoyingly loud and shrill. There are hundreds of comics who are more talented than this and more deserving of their own show. See more 10/10/2020 Michelle Wolf is woefully unfunny. Saying something loudly in a silly voice doesn't turn it into good comedy. See more 10/04/2020 She's just not funny and has a very annoying voice/laugh. She loves to laugh at her own jokes too. It's just....bad. See more 12/12/2019 yeah...that abortion bit was just insanely funny.....smfh See more 02/08/2019 You may as well watch the final season of this great show. It has some pretty high-value skits. See more 09/06/2018 The Break is cutting commentary on politics and how we report politics. Michelle Wolf has the charisma of a shih tzu wearing a beret with the comedic punch of a cannon ball. See more Read all reviews
