As a drama, The Days is too respectful: its desire not to leave anything out might result in tired viewers abandoning their posts. Go to Full Review

The Days is an intense miniseries about a catastrophe that works best when it leans on the emotional stakes and the tension between protagonists and their mission at hand... [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

“The Days” is a great series, a testament to the quality of J-dramas in a year that also saw the outstanding “Sanctuary” coming out, and one that stands side by side to the masterful “Chernobyl”. Go to Full Review

But Chernobyl is one of the best historical dramas of recent memory, while The Days is a cheaply made, poorly written, off-brand imitation. Go to Full Review

Like the hulking symbol of arrogance at its centre, Netflix's mini-series about the Fukushima nuclear disaster also collapses under its own weight. Go to Full Review

The longwinded and detail-oriented approach isn’t going to be for everyone, and those looking for more universal drama or meaty subtext – both of which Chernobyl had in spades – will find The Days somewhat lacking. Go to Full Review

Mr R @Russellowen Feb 22 In it's original Japanese language the film probably made a lot of sense and caught the nuances of the acting. However, the dubbing into American accents is absolutely ridiculous and makes a mockery of the film. The acting is also ridiculously over-the-top. See more Nikki R @RT79108190 Sep 3 Deeply compelling narrative filming based on true events surrounding the Fukushima nuclear power disaster in 2011 (the worst since Chernobyl, with both being categorized by scientists as reaching the highest level of danger). Outstanding not only for the almost unbearable mounting pressure across the eight episodes; but also for the eye-opening portrayals of the existential dangers of nuclear power (let alone nuclear weapons). A real must-see that could actually prevent unimaginable disaster. See more Ampleen S @RT40233022 Jun 23 The Days is an absolute must-see, especially for younger generations who may not fully remember or grasp the scale of the Fukushima nuclear disaster. The series offers a sobering and powerful retelling of the catastrophic chain of events — a devastating earthquake, followed by a massive tsunami, that ultimately led to one of the most severe nuclear crises in history. What makes The Days particularly compelling is its ability to portray not just the technical failure, but the profound human struggle behind it. The series serves as a stark reminder of how even our most sophisticated innovations can spiral beyond human control, forcing us to confront the complex risks that come with our pursuit of progress — especially in today’s electrified, energy-hungry AI world. The acting is excellent: restrained, deeply sincere, and respectful of the gravity of the real-life tragedy. Without dramatizing for effect, the performances convey the quiet courage and humanity of those who faced unimaginable decisions under extreme pressure. See more Will P @RT35807053 05/28/2025 It's color graded like the Walking Dead, which makes everything seem unreal, like a fantasy show. Given it's supposed to be a docudrama, this completely ruins the immersion from the off. The script is clunky, the effects poor, the acting just so-so. A wasted opportunity all round. See more Tom H @RT84912208 05/10/2024 Great. Really interesting and hectic. See more Kelly H @RT10154842 12/27/2023 Awesome edge of your seat movie watching reminds me of the disaster in Hawaii in some parts See more Read all reviews
