Having spent years conducting missions in a jungle, ex-Special Forces leader Jim Ellison can do things most people can't. He has hyperactive senses -- the hearing of a dog and the night vision of a cat, among other things. As a police detective, he uses his super senses to fight crime. An anthropology student, Blair, who thinks Ellison is like the guardian Sentinels of ancient times, helps Ellison adjust and control his senses. Blair then joins Jim as a police observer and the two team up to fight crime in their village of Cascade.

Lisa D. Horowitz Variety 07/30/2019
Writing is sharp, direction is snappy, and actors perform to maximum effect. [Richard] Burgi conveys complexities of Ellison's confusion and efforts to cope with what's happening to him, and [Garett] Maggart is a good foil. Go to Full Review
Howard Rosenberg Los Angeles Times 07/30/2019
With [Richard] Burgi soberly underplaying Ellison as a perplexed, vulnerable protagonist, "The Sentinel" is still swimming in intriguing murkiness. Inevitably, though, formulaic TV intervenes. Go to Full Review
John Voorhees Seattle Times 07/30/2019
The budget appears to be lavish for explosives and almost nil for writers since almost nothing in the first two scripts made any sense at all. Go to Full Review

It's certainly not the slickest or most exciting cop show you'll ever see, but it comes with a cool enough gimmick to keep you entertained. Go to Full Review
