What to Know

Critics Consensus

As made evident in Interview with the Vampire, Sam Reid perfectly embodies this luridly divine undead Frenchman, but The Vampire Lestat makes him a snarling, campy, and utterly magnetic star who unapologetically commands your attention.

Audience Says

A rich continuation of the Anne Rice universe, The Vampire Lestat emerges as a spellbinding entry pulsating with exquisite chaos and gothic despair.

Beyond all this is his afterlife’s driving existential question. “Why do I actively, manically pursue failure?” he asks. The show leaves this open, which is fine by me. I’d happily tag along for more delirious seasons as he searches for answers. Go to Full Review

It’s rare to find television bold enough to commit as fully as “The Vampire Lestat” does, and rarer still to see a performer as magnetic and multifaceted as Reid to carry it through. Go to Full Review

If the project of “Interview With the Vampire” was to make these interactions legible for those of us with finite lifespans, “The Vampire Lestat” adds a new weapon to that arsenal, one that lands with all the force of a stake through the heart. Go to Full Review

The Vampire Lestat is a bit of a left turn in the Interview With The Vampire story, but it’s campy fun with good music and a Lestat that is funnier the more seriously he takes himself. Go to Full Review

If there's one thing that stands out about the series, it's its brilliant ability to blend much of the book's dark and twisted power with a bold, contemporary energy within the same setting to create its own mythology. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Just when you thought this show couldn't get any better, it does. A fascinating look at the other side of the coin that is Louis and Lestat's complex and beautiful relationship. Very well written and acted. Go to Full Review

Grace R @BebeR112 10h The Vampire Lestat is absolutely hilarious. Wasn't a big fan of Interview with a Vampire but this season is the best. It's basically Fear & Loathing meets Zoolander meets True Blood. See more Kat P @KayParr153 11h You don't see acting and writing, or music, this great on TV (or in film, really) very often. See more Jenn M @jennmartin92 1d I would usually wait until the end of a season to write a review but Sam Reid is too brilliant in this for me to wait. I can always add more later. But he's just ASTONISHING as Lestat, one of those actors you can't understand why they aren't everywhere (plus gorgeous). Jacob Anderson is incredible too, and the writing and music are fantastic already. I would love more flashbacks, but we'll see what the rest of the season brings. Next episode looks very dark and compelling. Yay/scared. See more Aron F @Aaron257 1d Incredible!! The acting, the music, the plot, my mind’s blown away. I absolutely love this, can’t wait for more. See more like_maria_ L. @like_maria_ 2d I’m 2 episodes in. Looove this season so far! It has aesthetics of my favorite queer movies from the rocky horror to Hedwig and the angry inch and everything in between. I also keep unexpectedly thinking about “in Bruges,” which similarly combines humor, sarcasm, and gut wrenching sincerity that makes you cry. Hope the rest of the show will be at the same level. See more Tanya P @RT70144760 3d Sam Reid is mesmerising! See more Read all reviews
