Find Me
The Walking Dead Season 10

Critic Ratings: 14
Critics Consensus

"Find Me" feels like a meandering look back when The Walking Dead should be forging ahead, but Norman Reedus' stoic appeal and striking cinematography keep this installment compelling.

Episode Info

An adventure for Daryl and Carol turns sideways when they come across an old cabin. It takes Daryl back to the years when he left the group after Rick disappeared as he relives a time that only the apocalypse could manifest.

Critic Reviews for Find Me

A few interesting dots are connected, but without pushing the story forward much (and only a precious few zombie kills to liven things up). Perhaps the best way to think about this chapter is that it's not really Daryl's story -- it's Dog's origin story.

Some excellent Carol/Daryl conversations bookend this episode, but all the sodden stuff in between never feels like anything more than rushed backstory.

The argument notwithstanding, it's another great Daryl and Carol episode, and it's clear that their spin-off together is going to be great, if only because of their chemistry together.

I liked this little story. It was a chance to show another side of Daryl's character that we've never seen before. Norman Reedus is a good actor and we actually got to see more of his range this past Walking Dead season.

To give Daryl a love interest this late into the game, with one season left to go, makes you wonder why the show is doing it all.

Tonight's episode likewise let Carol and Daryl have the show practically to themselves, but with diminished results. However, even a ho-hum D&C Power Hour is a solid episode of The Walking Dead.

I know these bonus episodes are set to be smaller in scale, but if they all live up to the high bar set by "Find Me," they will be worth the wait.

"Find Me" presents a rare misfire in the show's long history of filling out key backstory for its most important characters.

If you let yourself just sink into the mood and aesthetic of the first half of the episode, it isn't as boring as it seems.

These bonus season ten episodes occupy a strange space, so I'm still unsure if they'll sum up to some larger theme being shared between them. That said, as far as closed-off character pieces go, the episode works well enough.

A sombre episode that works as a backdoor pilot for their upcoming spin-off but also introduces a completely new character who just might have won Daryl's stony heart while he was out living in the woods for the few years after Rick's disappearance.

Find Me sought to create some drama by adding a new variable in the mix and a potential subplot to revisit for Carol and Daryl's spinoff.
