This documentary series offers rare access to a community of 15 Mormon families that live in the desert of Utah. These families are unusual in that they are polygamists -- the practice of marriage to multiple people at once. In addition to particularly unusual, the families' lives are sometimes difficult, partly because in the state of Utah polygamy is a third-degree felony, and because it carries the risk of excommunication in the mainstream Mormon church. This series examines the personal politics of courtship, how to behave correctly in front of sister wives, the complicated sleeping arrangements, and also acts as a catalyst to a wider reflection of relationships, love, family and faith in the contemporary United States.
