Critics Consensus

Tiny Beautiful Things is littered with cumbersome narrative choices, but Kathryn Hahn's soulful performance is one big plus that keeps this adaptation firmly compelling.

Hahn puts in an award-worthy performance, but her character is far from endearing. Clare’s self-indulgence and eagerness to pin her difficulties on everyone but herself makes her an exhausting character, and it ultimately weighs down the show. Go to Full Review

Nalaya C @Nalaya Jan 13 The way Kathryn responds to the questions as Sugar are really deeply touching. Especially because she's writing it from this character who is far from perfect. Her life is a mess and she just owns it. It shows the beauty of the chaos that is part of life. That there is deep wisdom to be found even when things don't go the way we want them to. I did however find the ending to be quite abrupt. That's why it gets one less star. Also the side characters and their side-stories didn't pull me in as much. The daughter, the therapist. It seemed irrelevant in the end. I thought it was building on something, but then it just ended. See more ashley T @veganwatcher Jan 11 this series broke my heart in the best way possible. the gray and complex characters make everything 10 times better! See more Joan L @RT37882029 01/30/2025 Katherine Hahn's performance had absolutely zero nuance, and mostly consisted of her screaming at everyone, especially her daughter. At the slightest annoyance, she would lose her temper and start melting down. It was very off-putting and distracting and ruined this series for me. See more Gabriela B @RT28156357 01/18/2025 It is beautiful. I loved it! In fact Clare was down right annoying in spots. See more Read all reviews
