Some episodes end on heavy or unsettling notes, but they feel plausible within the worlds being portrayed. I do recommend the series, though it’s definitely not for everyone. For a Netflix series that seems really strange 😂 and I really wanted to see the opinions of others on this one 👀 This show had themes running throughout its cyberpunk Thailand future aesthetic (which is very cool btw) that were hard hitting, relevant and deeply emotional. Each episode takes place in a future tech and intelligent AI dominated world (2045+) through the lens of Thailand specifically. Each episode follows a different story from within that universe and goes into incredible details about what this could look like. Some episodes are a harder watch than others, due to some of the themes so I would say it definitely earns its 18 rating. But with that being said.. every episode tells multiple stories that are so important, impactful, creatively written, engaging and frankly, went way deeper emotionally than I expected them to go. This is largely in part to the characters driving the stories themselves, who are all well acted, well written and contain real chemistry. From the world of a monk in a future where Buddhism AI apps with ‘merit points’ are rivalling them, to a future woman CEO pioneering a ‘pleasure oasis’ of AI sex robots to ‘free repressed sexuality’. This show has multiple twists and turns by the end of each episode that shocked me each time. It’s funny, smart and deeply aesthetic (in a tech/neon sign/ robot future Thailand). I’d recommend the watch. I laughed, I cried and at times felt uncomfortable, but that’s because this show challenges you as a viewer. You will definitely leave thinking of the narratives and themes this show brings up about humanity, and where we could be heading, and in a lot of ways, where we already are.
