Dazzling computer animation highlights this six-hour "speculative documentary" following the lives of dinosaurs from their beginning to their zenith -- and their eventual decline during the Cretaceous period. The computer-generated imagery and animatronics used in the series show dinosaurs in a way you would expect to see in a feature film.

Walking with Dinosaurs is good fun in a carnivorous kind of way. Visually, it's a bobby dazzler. Go to Full Review

An intoxicating concoction... that provides a spine-tingling and sometimes gruesome history of the legendary creatures. Go to Full Review

The series is well narrated by Kenneth Branagh, and is definitely not just for dino-nerds out there. After 5 minutes, you are kind of hooked, and wonder what is going to happen to the baby utahraptor, or if the iguanadon will ever get lucky. Go to Full Review

ben s @BlessedBen May 26 Unless comparing the information to up to date Knowledge we have more that 25 years after the documentary was made, I can only think of 3 critiques of this documentary which are more than clutching at straws for something to not like. An amazing series you must watch if you have any intrest in dinosaurs. See more MrJurassic 09/15/2022 This series is at very minimum the standard for a beautifully made Dinosaur documentary series, rivaling modern day documentaries. See more j f @ProfessorJ 06/16/2022 This was hailed as masterpiece of CGI when it first aired, which I've never quite understood – at no point do the animals featured look anywhere near as realistic as those in Jurassic Park, which came out earlier. Some of them look incorrect regardless of the quality of the CGI – the dromaeosaurs lack feathers, and the T. rex is all wrong. That said, this series is an enjoyable attempt to show dinosaurs as actual animals, just living their lives in their natural habitats. It's presented as a natural history documentary of the type you might see about today's species. Some aspects are a little outdated now, and some were speculative even at the time, but it does a good job of taking you through the age of the dinosaurs, from their first appearance to their extinction.
