The grey, almost colorless cinematography (it's never sunny here) lends an added air of menace to the atmosphere.

Audience Reviews for War of the Worlds: Season 2

I love it. I don't speak french so it's hard for me to critic the acting and dialogue in full, but it's quality enough and the story moves along with enough intrigue to keep my attention. I would imagine it would for any sci-fi enthusiast interested in a brand new interpretation of HG Wells's already overplayed and never well done original story. I always thought my imagination did it more justice than the movies. I also think others are missing the clues revealed in the tech as a 'poor use of imagination'. They choose to critic the Boston Dynamics dogs but not the guns? I see a big reveal coming in the seasons to come...

I started watching out of interest in how it would compare to the original story and the various versions since then. The first season was OK though a lot of stuff did not make sense, but the start of the second season turned me off and I probably won't finish it. The most interesting part to me was the slow build to finding out who the aliens were, why they were attacking, etc. Season two opens six months later with a bunch of new stuff that we did not see discovered: the space ships, what the aliens look like (us), that they put their dead in rivers, that they are interested in babies for their stem cells so they can grow new organs for themselves (at least that is Bill's theory). Did the filmmakers just not have a clue how to explicate all this stuff? Bill (is he going to be the lone brilliant scientist who saves humanity?) has a ridiculous "theory": A genetic mutation that is hugely maladaptive but somehow persists to be shared by the entire alien species? I was going to list some things that I thought were illogical but was hoping would be explained later, and maybe they will, so I might be sucked back in for that.

    Tense, gripping, gritty. Loved it.
