Elvis Crespo
American singer Elvis Crespo, named after Elvis Presley, was born in New York City and raised in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. Crespo first rose to success during the 1990s, when he joined Grupo Mania, a popular Puerto Rican merengue group. He performed with the group for three years, before going solo in 1998. His debut solo album, "Suavemente" (1998) became a sensation, appealing to both Spanish and English speakers, and earned him the Best Male Tropical/Salsa Album of the Year from Billboard magazine. He would later have a minor appearance in the film "Center Stage" (2000) and have his songs featured in movies such as "The Rhythm Section" (2020) and "Magic Mike's Last Dance" (2023).
