George Antheil

Putting his musical talent to use, George Antheil's music was featured in Hollywood productions. Antheil began his entertainment career with his music featured in films like the Victor Moore dramatic adaptation "Make Way For Tomorrow" (1937), the Fredric March adventure "The Buccaneer" (1938) and the thriller "Union Pacific" (1939) with Barbara Stanwyck. His music also appeared in the drama "Angels Over Broadway" (1940) with Douglas Fairbanks Jr., "Specter of the Rose" (1946) and the Louis Hayward dramatic fantasy "Repeat Performance" (1948). In the forties and the fifties, Antheil's music continued to appear on the silver screen, including in films like "Knock on Any Door" (1949), the action flick "The Fighting Kentuckian" (1949) with John Wayne and "Tokyo Joe" (1949). His work was also in "We Were Strangers" (1949) and "House By the River" (1950) with Louis Hayward. Antheil's music was also featured in "Sirocco" (1951) with Humphrey Bogart, "Actors and Sin" (1952) with Edward G Robinson and the dramatic adaptation "The Juggler" (1953) with Kirk Douglas. His music was also featured in the Olivia de Havilland dramatic adaptation "Not As a Stranger" (1955) and the Cary Grant adaptation "The Pride and the Passion" (1957). Antheil was most recently credited in the Keith Carradine comedic drama "The Moderns" (1988). Antheil passed away in February 1959 at the age of 59.
